little project..

This is a "true treat" I found at a garage sale about 5 years ago with intentions of "antiquing" it and have just barely gotten around to it. It is a "Lane" brand cedar chest and the inside has the NICEST cedar and smells glorious ;) ... doesn't get much better than that smell does it?? Its so true that "one mans trash is another mans treasure!"
I'm not completely sold on the way it ended up but I learned a lot for the next time I redo it... which MAY be in a couple of weeks.
For those of you who know me.. I'm obsessed with GREEN.. I love to wear it, decorate with it.. everything, hence the reason I chose this color, but it turned out a bit more "ghost-bustery" than I anticipated, but in my defense the color that it looks in this picture is a lot uglier than it is in person!!
I have re-finished quite a few pieces of old furniture in the past, but this was the first time that I tried the antiquing method and it was actually a lot of fun taking on this project. I learned a lot... First my dad helped me sand blast the old finish off, then I roughed it up with chains, a hammer, and a sander, and painted it green, and then my mom and I used a dark stain to make it looked aged. I'll do things a lot different when I redo it for the 2nd time, but that's how we learn right??!! maybe turquoise instead... what do you think????

ONE of... if NOT my very best friend...LAURA is having a baby GIRL in August and her shower was last weekend! Look how great she looks and she only has 3 weeks left! I love that girl! I met her in college even before we started the hygiene program together, and I couldn't have survived my college years without her... or should I say... I wouldn't have had NEAR the crazy fun surviving without her! She is the sweetest girl I know..
It was so good to catch up and laugh with a couple of my hygiene girls for a few hours, they are more like family than friends!.. I LOVE AND MISS YOU ALL LIKE CRAZY. And I was telling Amber and Lisa I'm making a new hygiene "get-together rule".... NO MORE getting together on the weekdays in Idaho... I live in UTAH girls... WEEKENDS are manditory for

Full term....

How do you girls do it??????
I feel for you girlies that are full term pregnant because I had a 2 minute taste of what it may be like... and it makes me as confident as ever that I'm not ready for that little adventure.
Another dental specialty sent our office at work a watermelon to say thank you for some referrals... hence the scrubs and lab jacket... and this is what was done with the watermelon. Just one of those "had to be there" moments that my whole office thought was HILARIOUS, but doesn't sound or look as funny now that I'm posting it! dang it

I thought since I have had my HIDIOUS DL picture posted for the last couple weeks I'd treat you to a few more "model-worthy" pictures of myself. The only difference is I was TRYING intentionally to be an idiot in these! So while I am cleaning teeth, I have to wear safety glasses because of flying tartar debris and other tastey treats that come with my job... and the safety glasses we wear are pretty standard and boring, so I bought these bad boys to spice up my life a bit. I haven't worn them to work yet, but I'm sure they will bring a few smiles to my patients faces... and to my co-workers Ü Although I did wear them all through dinner when I went to a nice resturant with my sister in Florida... again I think I'm a lot funnier than anyone else ever has!
I know this is TERRIBLE, but everytime I put these on they remind me of the glasses that all those sicko guys that hit their wives or guys that are just real CREEPY in the movies from the 80's or criminals from cold case files. anyone know what i'm say'n????? What is that face I'm pullin, I've got to get some decent pictures up or you all are going to be wondering if I'm all there upstairs.

I'm desperate

This is our little guy .... COHEN ..... well I guess I should say he USE to be our little guy! We got him in North Carolina last summer and he was only 4 weeks old when we got him and traveled 2 and 1/2 hours for him, but he got SOO SICK because the breeder gave him to us when he was WAY too young, so we had to take him back so his mom could feed him and get him better until he was older. Unfortunately it was too far to go back and get him and Jeremy promised we would find another one soon... but a year later I'm still IN NEED of a little friend. Some people WANT a puppy.. I'm different.. I NEED one, like a mother needs a child (and no this is not my maternal instinct coming through.. I'll let you know when that kicks in). I swear I was a dog in another life.. Jeremy and my family will confirm this. I just love love love them! Cohen was a Yorkie-Poo.. but I would be grateful for anything under 5 lbs at this point. If any of you have any leads or connections of where I might find a tiny tike Ü.. please do help me out.

some sympathy please...

okay.. i'm bugged as all get out... and just be prepared because this is a VAIN... completely UN-IMPORTANT...and most defiently RIDICULOUS of me, but hear me out.
I've picked up my 2nd COLD for the summer season and I can't breath without making that disgusting girgle noise with my nose because of how plugged it is... anyway.. I was in Idaho Falls yesterday and needed to renew my drivers license... I went in thinking I could just use my same picture from a couple of years ago so I didn't worry about my ruby red nose I had just blown or my hair that was slicked back in a hidious pony... although I did have a headband in trying to cover most of the hair-ghetto-ness, and threw on a set of pretty cute earring if I may say so myself.
So I get there and the white-haired lady lays the news on me... she tells me I CANNOT keep my old picture for my new license... immediately I'm FLAMEING inside as I remember seeing how I disgusting I looked in the rearview mirror on my way to the courthouse... Keep in mind, My patience are shot from being sick and achy, but honestly the fumes were probably mostly coming from knowing I looked like a homeless drug-addict and had to get my picture taken. Yeah.. I know its just a drivers license picture, but what other picture do you show of yourself more than a drivers license... especially when you like to shop like I do.
HOLD ON>>>> IT GETS WORSE.... so I reluctently get up to the not-so-friendly"picture lady" and she says "YOUR GOING TO HAVE TO TAKE OUT THAT HAIRBAND AND TAKE OFF THOSE EARRINGS".... what???????? so you know it... I had no choice but to force a smile with my matted grease-ball hair, fire-engine red nose, and earring-less ears.. and don't worry I renewed my license for the FULL 8 YEARS!! The vain part of me.. which I'm not proud to admit can tend to be a big portion of me at times... makes me want to pay the $10 fee and go get a replacement... but stand tall and be proud of me because I'm going to eat it and make this strenghten my character Ü I'm lame.. I know.. but no earrings in a license picture.. what is the world coming to?

Happy 4th!!

The 4th of July is my favorite.. I love the music, the fireworks, the parade, bar-b-ques, being with my family, and most of all... it really does bring a sense of humility because of all blessings that come with living in such an AMAZING, FREE, LIMITLESS country. Every time I hear "I'm proud to be an American"...its almost like an immediate instinct to tear up... jump to my feet... and sing as loud and proud as possible.. you know what I mean don't you!!??? Everyone can probably distictly remember where they where when they heard about 9-11. That memory is so vivid to me and has really changed my perspective in so many aspects of my life. I was taking the two kids I use to nanny to school when 9-11 happened, and "I'm proud to be an American" came on while I was in the car, and I will never forget the way I felt as I cried the whole way home. What a TRAGETY, but in a sense it also has brought unity in so many ways within our country.

I can't help but think about all those families that were not complete this 4th of July as their loved ones are fighting for OUR freedom so selflessly. My heart and gratitude goes out to all those serving our country and to their families waiting for them to safely come home. I realize more every year that we are able to celebrate this great holiday because of great heros in the past, and our current heros that continue to risk their lives for our freedom. We are so blessed. I love this holiday more every year, and am so grateful I was able to spend it with the people I love with all my heart.
